Given Newsweek’s redirection this year to more opinion, analysis and provocative ideas pieces, the move raises questions about the magazine's commitment to reporting in Washington. "Holly has been a great asset to the bureau, and I'm sorry to see her go," said Washington bureau chief Jeffrey Bartholet. "Katie Connolly will continue to cover the White House for us on a daily basis. Howard Fineman and Jonathan Alter will also continue writing about national politics for the magazine and Newsweek.com." that's from michael calderone's 'newsweek's bailey taking buyout' (politico) on holly bailey, a d.c. reporter for the magazine, leavng. and in reference to the above, the 'redirection'? i believe that was obvious when they trashed reporting to allow them to trash sarah palin with 'non-think' pieces by such rejects as chris hitchens. and jonathan alter and howard fineman? not reporters.... he needs space
Well, I've enjoyed the week off. It's given me some breathing room to think about where I'm going and what I should be doing and to spend extra time with the kids and friends. The Husband, his Asperger's is showing. I think it will be good for him to go back to work. Yesterday we all went for a hike, it was another beautiful day out for late November. We're hiking along, but I'm noticing that we're getting pretty far away from the parking lot, so I'm thinking we should make a loop back in that direction before we find ourselves all out in the middle of nowhere and having to still make our way back. So I stop his wandering progress and suggest we take a branch to the right, to stay closer to the parking lot. I can see he's a little uncomfortable with that, and I learn that it's because "there's people over there". Damn, the man will hike 5 miles out of his way to not have to hike by other people! Common Ground!
Did we humans rise from the proverbial sludge or fall from paradise? Are we products of evolution or divine creation? Did we come from the apes or from pure and perfect humans like Adam and Eve? After a lifetime interest in science and nearly two decades of other-worldly research, including five amazing years as a member of INIT, I'm convinced there's truth in all of those scenarios. Here's what I'm confident is the real story (at least the outline of the real story) of our ancient human heritage: Does our humanity trace back ultimately to a paradise called Eden? Yes… and it had various other names as well. Do we trace back spiritually to the source, a.k.a God? Yes… we do indeed have at the center of our being a soul—our highest self—which is a piece of the source. Do we today suffer largely because of humanity's fall from paradise long ago? Yes… our ancient superhuman ancestors actually destroyed their paradise and became marooned on this terrific, terrible, terrifying Earth…... (more)

Quarter Life
In the beginning
Writing is something that I have and am still not very good at in school. however, put me out there being anonymous and having no one critique it and I am good to go. I dont expect many if anyone to read this, but I will change names of people and locations though. I am about a quarter way through my life (24) and I just have a lot on my mind as a young christian and what better way to get it out there than on a blog right? Looking forward to wht the future has to hold.
